  • 3 Night Break

We have just returned from a 3 night break at The Snug.

We knew we we were one of the first guests as the owners had asked us to let them know if we were missing anything during our stay.

Luckily for us the September weather was great and we were able to make full use of the river hideaway garden. We used the BBQ twice during our 3 night stay as the stove in the shed provided heat.

We didn’t have to use the blankets provided. As for the house it was lovely to chat to the owners and they showed us photos of what it was like on purchase 2 years before. It really was 5 star.

The views from the bedroom over the river were incredible. The kitchen was stunning in copper and handmade wood work surfaces. We used the living room wood burning stove every night with the logs the owners provided. We would return again, maybe in the late spring so we could swim in the river. Best of luck in the future, John

  • Local Getaway

We decided to go locally for our wedding anniversary as we only had 2 days off work. We found this amazing accommodation near Loch Lomond. It was a great price as it had only opened in September. It was 5 star inside. We did a couple of the recommended walks on the west highland way.

We had a bath under the velux window looking at the stars. The fixtures and fittings were so well thought out.

We didn’t meet the owners but saw the book which followed the renovation process over the previous 2 years. A labour of love. Due to the weather and lack of time we didn’t make use of the garden. We just used the stove in the lounge.

Would return. Good luck for the future.

    Property review:

"We had a lovely holiday, so much so that we extended it by an extra day. We would have stayed longer if we could. The cottage is very pretty and well designed. The sofa bed is very comfortable if there are three people. The setting is beautiful and the seating area in the River Hideaway is an additional bonus - listening to the river and birdsong in the evening was very relaxing. Lots of walks from the cottage or in the local area - Munros to climb, beautiful lochs, some lovely pubs/delis. "

"A delightful cottage full of character and lots of lovely extra touches. The cottage has been renovated beautifully. Rory & Jackie have thought of everything to make my stay idyllic. I especially enjoyed having fire stoves both inside and out. The hideaway is well sheltered so I could be outside even on the cooler evenings. This place is an absolute gem and I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a fantastic wee place to stay. "

Perfect location the cottage is more than home from home.. the pictures do not do the cottage justice.. the bed and pillows are super comfy even with the windows wide open nothing stops a perfect night sleep. The shower super powerful coming back from long walks you couldn’t beat sitting next to the fast flowing stream with a book in one hand and a glass of wine in the other perfect end to an amazing day with a roaring fire on those late evenings. Jackie & Rory have packaged a beautiful cottage.

Gem of a cottage. 'Snug' is the ideal word to describe this property, I was 'as a bug' from minutes of arrival. So relaxing, if you are looking for somewhere to chill, you would be hard pushed to find somewhere better.

“We really enjoyed our week in The Snug, it is a real gem of a holiday cottage with % star accommodation and a private outside ‘room’ on the river to enjoy the evenings. Location is perfect to explore the Loch Lomond area and we even ventured as far as Glencoe for a day trip. There is easy access to shops and pubs/restaurants ans only 30 mins from Glasgow despite its rural setting. Definitely a place to revisit!

  • Beautiful stay at The Snug

Review from the Harding party 23rd September 23

We had a beautiful stay at The Snug. Proper home from home standard of accommodation. Loved the log burners and The Hideaway next to the river. Probably one of the highest standard of cottage rentals in the area. Would definitely return!
